How does malware work?

Malware is a type of software that is designed to harm or disable computers and computer system systems. Malware is short for malicious software. There are several 15 different types of malware (click through the next article) of malware, including infections, worms, Trojan horses, and spyware.

Some malware is designed to harm the computer system by erasing files or crashing the system. Other malware is developed to gather individual info, such as credit card numbers or login credentials. Still other malware is created to hijack the computer, avoiding the genuine user from accessing it.

Malware is usually spread by email attachments, sites that host infected advertising, or by downloading infected files from peer-to-peer networks. Once a computer system is infected, the malware can infect other computers on the same network.

Malware can be challenging to eliminate, and frequently needs the help of a skilled computer service technician. Sometimes, the only method to eliminate malware is to format the hard disk drive and re-install the operating system.
